Products & Handmade Items

Many of our products are handmade, hand-painted and individually finished. Because of this, no two pieces will ever be completely identical.

Small variations in shape, size, colour, glaze, pattern placement, decal placement and finish are a natural part of the handmade process and are part of what makes each piece unique.

Product photographs are intended to represent each design as accurately as possible. However, colours may appear slightly different depending on lighting, photography and individual screen settings.

These natural handmade variations are not considered faults. This does not affect your statutory rights where an item is faulty, damaged, not as described or otherwise does not meet the standards required by law.

Orders & Payment

All prices are displayed in the currency shown on the website at the time of purchase.

Payment must be completed at checkout before an order is confirmed. Once your order has been successfully placed, you will receive an order confirmation using the contact information provided at checkout.

Please check your order details carefully before completing your purchase, including your products, quantities and delivery address.

If you notice an error after placing your order, please contact me as soon as possible. I cannot guarantee that changes can be made once an order has entered production or been dispatched.

Made-to-Order Items & Production Times

Many The Modern Factory pieces are handmade to order.

Estimated production times are displayed on individual product listings. Unless otherwise stated, please allow approximately 2–4 weeks before dispatch for made-to-order ceramic pieces.

This time allows for the making, drying, firing, glazing and finishing processes involved in producing handmade ceramics.

Production times are estimates and may occasionally vary due to the nature of the handmade process. If there is a significant unexpected delay with your order, I will contact you.

Production time is separate from the delivery time shown at checkout.

Delivery

Orders will be shipped to the delivery address provided at checkout. Please ensure that your address is complete and accurate before placing your order.

Delivery times shown on the website or provided by a postal or courier service are estimates unless expressly stated otherwise.

Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive any available tracking information where applicable.

Returns, Refunds & Exchanges

Your right to return an item depends on the type of product purchased and the circumstances of the return.

Eligible online purchases may be cancelled and returned in accordance with applicable UK consumer law.

Personalised or genuinely bespoke products made specifically to a customer's individual requirements may not be eligible for change-of-mind cancellation or return.

If an item arrives damaged, faulty or incorrect, please contact me as soon as possible so that I can help resolve the issue.

Where an exchange has been agreed, the original item must normally be returned and received before the replacement is dispatched.

Nothing in these Terms of Service or the Returns & Refunds Policy affects your statutory rights.

Damaged Parcels

Ceramics are fragile, so every order is carefully packaged to help protect it during delivery.

If your order arrives damaged, please contact me as soon as possible and provide your order number along with clear photographs of the damaged item and its packaging. Please retain the packaging while the issue is being resolved, as this may be required when making a claim with the delivery provider.

Care & Use

Please follow any care instructions included within the relevant product description.

Where a ceramic product is described as food safe, dishwasher safe or microwave safe, this applies when the item is used normally and in accordance with the care information provided.

As with all ceramic products, pieces should be handled with reasonable care and should not be used if they become significantly cracked or damaged.

Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, all original designs, artwork, illustrations, photographs, product imagery, text, graphics, branding and other creative content appearing on this website belong to The Modern Factory.

They may not be copied, reproduced, modified, distributed, commercially exploited or used to create derivative products without prior written permission.

Purchasing a physical product does not transfer ownership of the intellectual property associated with its design or artwork.

Website Information

I take reasonable care to ensure that product descriptions, photographs, prices and other information displayed on this website are accurate.

Occasionally, errors may occur. If an error materially affects an order you have already placed, I will contact you as soon as reasonably possible to explain the issue and the options available to you.

Promotions & Discount Codes

Discount codes and promotional offers are subject to any specific conditions stated alongside the promotion.

Unless otherwise stated, discount codes cannot be combined with other offers or applied retrospectively to orders that have already been placed.

I reserve the right to withdraw or amend a promotion where reasonably necessary, provided this does not unfairly affect orders already accepted.

Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so or limits any rights you have under applicable consumer law.

The Modern Factory is not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was formed or for losses resulting from circumstances outside our reasonable control, except where the law provides otherwise.
